Employee Community Involvement

Employee Volunteer Program

Coastal Community’s vision is to be leaders in building relationships that make a visible and meaningful difference in building healthier communities. One of the ways we move towards this vision is by supporting employees in their efforts to make a difference in the communities served by Coastal Community.

Each month, employees are eligible to receive funds to donate to a charity of their choice. Coastal Community employees who track their volunteer hours will automatically be entered into the applicable draw every month. There will be up to $600 awarded monthly to charity groups through this Program.

United Way Payroll Program

Coastal Community is proud to partner with the United Way of Central and North Vancouver Island to offer Coastal Community employees another way to give to their local communities. We offer the United Way Payroll deduction program where employees can give conveniently all year long through their paycheque. To ensure Coastal Community’s employees donations go directly into their community, Coastal Community donates funds to the UW to cover all administrative costs incurred through this program.  This means that 100% of our employee’s money goes directly into funding community initiatives!

Fundraising Fridays

One of the many ways our employees make a difference is through Fundraising Fridays.

Every Friday, Coastal Community employees dress casually and pay $1 to support various charitable groups. Branch employees also organize fundraising events such as hotdog sales, auctions and bake sales to generate additional funds for our community partners. Since its inception in 1997, Fundraising Fridays have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for a variety of organizations.

Proceeds from Fundraising Fridays benefit a different organization each month. Organizations that have received support through Fundraising Fridays include Hospital Foundation, Volunteer Organizations, Hospice Societies and Food Banks are just to name a few.
