SHARING OUR SUCCESS

Giving back to our communities

We had exceptional financial results in 2022. That success let us allocate $1.6 million in one-time special funding to give back to communities across the islands.

Here are the details:

  • The special funding benefited community initiatives and causes across the islands
  • The one-time funding was distributed throughout 2023
  • Members had a voice in the process through a Community Giving member survey
  • Key areas to support included health care, housing, mental health, financial education and food security
  • We also directly supported many community initiatives aligned with our focus areas
  • Some funds were used to boost the 2023 budgets of our existing Building Healthier Communities Fund and Community Investment programs
  • Some one-time programs were created to help improve the financial health of our members, clients and communities

Spotlighting some community causes we supported

Below are a few of the organizations we supported with the $1.6 million in one-time special community funding. Click here for a full list of recipients.

Housing and community for people living with disabilities

Thank you to Coastal Community for their donation towards The Anchorage housing project. We're building 16 suites for people with disabilities who can live independently with some support. It will provide essential housing for the Comox Valley.

- Hollee Card, Executive Director (retired), L'arche Comox Valley

A home for North Island families who travel for healthcare

A big thank you to Coastal Community for their $50,000 donation to the Just Like Home Lodge at Campbell River Hospital. The 10-room lodge will be a great help for families who have to travel long distances for healthcare.

- Stacey Marsh, Executive Director, Campbell River Hospital Foundation

Community theatre thriving in the Comox Valley

We received a donation from Coastal Community which we directed towards our Superstar program and our Centre Stage series. Contributions from businesses in the community like Coastal Community go a really long way.

- Deborah Renz, General Manager, Sid Williams Theatre Society
